Pandharpur, located in the south of Maharashtra, is an eight hour drive from Mumbai/Hyderabad and about four hours from Pune.
Pandharpur is at the banks of river Bhima also known as Chandrabhaga. It is the "South Kashi" of India. Considered as the 'Spiritual Capital' of Maharashtra, this is the Land of Saints, believed to have granted divine visions to many. Many saints are said to have seen divine visions of Lord Vitthal, the diety incarnation of Vishnu or Shri Krishna here at Pandharpur. It's an epicenter of inspiration to lakhs of devotees throughout the country.
The ancient temple of Shri. Vitthal is believed to have been built and rebuilt many times, and most recently renovated in 1195 A.D.
In this town whose very name awakens devotion, the Brahma Kumaris ‘Viraat Darshan’ Spiritual Musuem is just about a kilometre away from the main temple of Vitthal-Rukhmai.
The Brahma Kumaris’ first step into this land of devotion came in 1979 by establishing a small ‘Geeta-Pathshala’ at Pandharpur. Since then it has organised many programmes, big and small, on various occasions to spread the spiritual knowledge of Rajyoga.
